Fine Art- Painting
I came to the world on a Thursday night. It was the 29th of November of the 1990, the last years of the 20th century, the beginning of the incredible 90’s. My mother, Angeles, had already experienced giving birth twice (and was going to experience it again after me), so had my father Jaime, waiting for a baby… so they knew what was waiting for them. I made it at 8:05 pm, in a hospital from Ponce, Puerto Rico. And the adventure of living life started.
I started to get into arts since I was a kid. I remember I had this notebook where all I drew were dolls clothed for different seasons. And they must not been that bad, because it made my mother want to take me to the “Escuela de Bellas Artes en Ponce” (School of Fine Arts in Ponce) at my age of 12. I definitely enjoy those years and that school was my most precious art inspiration. It was my whole base for my followed art studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ponce, Puerto Rico, where I completed a bachelor in Fine Arts.
I consider myself a general artist. Because when it comes to arts, I like them all as I like to try them all at least once (i mean painting, drawing, etching...not doing abstracts!). My artwork it is divided in traditional and digital. In the traditional side you can find me working in acrylic paints, watercolor or my favorite one, oil. As also I make big part of my work in pastels, colored pencil or charcoal and graphite.
The digital side is composed with paintings, graphic design work for clients (restaurants, music bands, companies, etc) and photo manipulations.
The human body is my passion. Even if I work with both genres, my art leans to work with the male figure. The strength it has, possesses me, inspires me.
My artwork it’s very personal. I give myself in every piece, and doing it… it’s the thing I most enjoy from life.
Art completes the significance of existence in my life. Is the reason to believe in my frustrations the same way I believe in my dreams. By making art I satisfy my hands at the second it creates something beautiful. It is that source of power that every human being needs to take from somewhere. Contradiction of powers over me. An addiction.
As the empirics theories, my work it is composed by an idea. That it is possible to know by the experience. Being this last part, the one that it is captured by your senses. Most of my work it is done in oils or acrylic. Also a big part of it, in mixed media. Always where the human figure occupies the foreground.
I believe my work it is just over the line that crosses and divides reality from fantasy. In it I play with both worlds. With the logic of the nonsense. The reality of fantasy. Right where my childhood dreams start to terrorize a public or to seduce a soul. Right there, where I woke up.
